The textbook provides an introduction to modern particle physics. The most relevant developments in high energy physics are reviewed with a phenomenological approach, that allows for a balance between theory and experiment, in order to give a comprehensive description of the electromagnetic weak and strong interactions between the elementary particles. Starting from the Quantum Electro-Dynamics (QED), the basic concepts of the unified electroweak theory are illustrated; then, by considering the Quantum Chromo-Dynamics (QCD), the Standard Model of quarks and leptons is finally achieved.
