Francesco Acuto is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Engineering, University of Palermo. He graduated cum laude in Civil Engineering from the University of Palermo in 2016 and earned his Ph.D. Doctor Europaeus from the same university in 2021. His field of expertise concerns sustainability about road and rail track geometric design, road pavements design, road traffic engineering, Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA), Maintenance and Rehabilitation management (M&R), BIM, digital survey and photogrammetric techniques for structure and infrastructure monitoring. He is author/co-author of four journal papers, a book chapter, four international conference proceedings (Scopus indexed), and he is also co-supervisor of three master’s degree theses. He has been involved in the international project RE-MED – Application de l’innovation pour le développement de l’économie circulaire pour une construction durable en Méditerranée (ENI CBC Med) funded by the European Union.

Laura Inzerillo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering, University of Palermo. She graduated cum laude in Management Engineering from the University of Palermo in 1995 and got her Ph.D. in Digital Survey and Representation of the Landscape and Architecture from the same university in 1999. She won a fellowship at Columbia University from 1999 to 2000 and was a researcher at the same university from 2000 to 2003 at MUD. She also won a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Palermo from 2000 to 2004, when she became researcher. Her areas of expertise include digital survey, 3D representation, Descriptive Geometry, reverse engineering, monitoring. She is an editorial and reviewer member of several international journals and the editor-in-chief of a special issue published in MDPI Journal. She has authored about 150 papers and three monographies, edited two books, and won a best paper award. She has participated in several international and national projects. Currently, she is involved in SMARTI ETN – Sustainable Multi-functional Automated Resilient Transport Infrastructures European Training Network HORIZON20-20 and in RE-MED – Application de l’économie circulaire pour une construction durable en Méditerranée (ENI CBC Med) funded by the European Union.
